Dr Judith Behrens, MB ChB, Dip Obs RCOG, FRCP, FRCPath
Dr Behrens qualified in Medicine at Manchester University Medical School and moved to London for specialist training in Haematology on the St George’s /Royal Marsden/ St Helier Hospital Senior Registrar rotation.
She was appointed as Consultant Haematologist to St Helier Hospital in 1981 and as Head of Department for over 20 years lead the team which has developed the laboratory and built up a comprehensive Level 11 clinical haematology service. She has also held a number of senior management roles at St Helier.
Judith has a particular interest in Myeloma and renal disease becoming co-chief investigator of the national MERIT trial and author of a number of papers in that field.
She has been Secretary of the UK Myeloma Forum since 2003 and has been particularly involved in guideline development, advocacy and teaching for the UKMF. She also works closely with Myeloma UK, for whom she is a scientific advisor.
