Dr Faith Davies, MB BCh MRCP MD MRCPath
Faith is a member of the Career Development Faculty at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital London. Having qualified as a doctor at the University of Wales College of Medicine, she completed her general medical training in Cardiff and Birmingham, and her Haematology specialist training in Leeds and London. During this time she also undertook research in to the biology and treatment of multiple myeloma concentrating on determining the mechanism of action of a number of new drugs at the University of Leeds and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, USA. She currently combines clinical work on haematological cancers with laboratory-based research concentrating on targeted approaches to myeloma therapy based on a sound knowledge of the biology of the disease. She has received funding for her research from the Department of Health, Leukaemia Research Fund, Cancer Research UK, Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund and British Society of Haematology. She has published over 50 papers in peer reviewed journals on myeloma and contributed to a number of book chapters and reviews on the subject. She is a reviewer for a number of international journals and grant-giving bodies. Faith is an active member of the Myeloma UK advisory panel, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Myeloma Foundation, as well as being the MRC Myeloma IX trial Scientific Co-ordinator and the Principle Investigator on a number of clinical trials.
