Prof Curly Morris, MD FRCPath FRCP

Prof Morris is a graduate of the QueenÕs University Belfast, where he also undertook research for his MD. After a period of training in a Sydney hospital, he returned to Belfast to take up his appointment as Consultant Haematologist in Belfast City Hospital where he was Director of Clinical Services for a period in the mid 90Õs. He then became the first Head of Service for Haematology for Belfast Link Laboratories and is now Deputy Director, and served as a member of the CMOÕs Review of Pathology Services (for Northern Ireland).

Prof MorrisÕs main interests are in the fields of myeloma, lymphoma and autologous transplantation and he has longstanding research interests in the regulation of granulopoiesis particularly focusing on stem cell inhibitors and in immunodiagnostics. More recently he has focused on myeloma with a portfolio of clinical trials and laboratory interests in proteosome inhibitors. Prof Morris is a past President of the Irish Haematology Association and Council and Executive Committee Member of the Royal College of Pathologists. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the UK Myeloma Forum and Chairman of the EBMT Chronic Leukaemia Working Party Myeloma Subcommittee and Secretary to the NCRI Myeloma Committee. His publications include over 60 peer reviewed papers and a similar number of case reports and letters. He has recently retired but continues to work part-time concentrating on his myeloma practice.
